Comparisons: 2008
and 2004
- The patterns (shapes of the lines) are generally the same
as in
2004, but with the blue lines a bit higher and the red lines a bit
lower.
- The young turned out in large numbers for Obama, though not
in significantly greater overall
numbers than in 2004 (18 percent versus 17 percent.for 18 to 29 year
olds).
- Note the odd upward twist in favor of Obama at the upper
end of the income distribution.
- Catholics turned to the Democrats, probably reflective of
the Hispanic Catholic vote.
- Had it been left to whites, the catastrophe would have
continued.
